Think about online gambling sites in terms of the clear advantages of online casino and online gambling sites compared to brick and mortar casinos? Seriously. If you are any sort of online casino player at all, you may in one sense be enjoying your online casino play without remembering what first attracted you to online gambling sites in the first place.
With that in mind, how about a quick overview or review if you will of all the things to like and appreciate about online gambling sites. Pay attention as some of these benefits you may not have even considered.
Perhaps one of the most noticeable differences is with the size of the wagers. Without question, you have much more freedom with online casinos to place a smaller sized wager than traditional land based casinos. Keep in mind, with an online gambling site you can enjoy the casino game choices with a smaller stake and still have the possibility of walking away with a sizable winnings amount.
Another feature that you cannot help but appreciate is the welcome bonuses that are offered to online casino players. Especially nowadays when there are more online gambling sites than ever before, you can pick and choose among online gambling sites for the best welcome bonus. Best of all, this welcome bonus lets you try out the casino gaming action with your bonus.
Naturally you most likely already appreciate the unprecedented convenience of online casino action. Especially now with the smartphone in your pocket, your favorite online gambling site is but a swipe and a click away. No driving, no getting dressed, no standing in line, none of that sort of thing.
Another feature you may not have considered is that with online casino action, it is you and the gambling site. That means that no matter what your skill level, no one is there to notice your mistakes or criticize your wagers or gaming choices.
In addition, with the online gambling site you are not subjected to playing against seasoned casino veterans. In other words, as you probably know walking into a brick and mortar casino means that there are more likely than not some rather experienced players at the tables. Obviously with an online gambling site, that is not something you need be concerned with.
Can you see the point now? Do you recognize the unmistakable advantages with online casino action?
The rather sizable number of $400 Billion plus is the widely acknowledged estimate of the amount of money that Americans regularly spend on sports betting. More to the point of this article, that $400 Million is being shelled out despite the fact that there federal online gaming laws on the books.
Recall that the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA)is a federal law enacted some 25 years ago. Note that the wording of PASPA limited state sponsored legal sports betting to but one state, that of Nevada.
Interestingly, at this point PASPA is under attack from two different angles. On one hand, there is the widely publicized bid to have none other than the U.S. Supreme Court to review the efforts of the state of New Jersey to legalize sports betting.
At the same time, there is a new Bill put forth by U.S. Representative Frank Pallone (D-NJ). Pallone’s Bill, named the GAME Act was only recently introduced to the House of Representatives. According to Pallone himself: “ Americans are betting up to $400 Billion a year on sporing events alone. It is time to recognize that the laws are outdated, and the GAME Act will modernize them by increasing transparency, integrity, and consumer awareness.”
In an interview with the widely read USA Today Sports, Pallone made his case quite clear. Pallone was quoted as stating that: “The point is allowing sports betting to be legal in states like New Jersey who want it.”
Note that the approach taken by the GAME Act is clearly focused on taking back control of online gambling and sports betting from federal control and putting these matters in the hands of the individual states themselves. The language in the GAME Act stipulates that each state will have the choice to legalize sports betting and such as long as there are consumer protections in place, prohibitions on underage gambling activities, and safeguards to identify compulsive gambling activity.
Does this mean that at long last that PASPA is on its way out? Maybe, but then again maybe not. After all, never lose sight of the fact that there are those with vested interest in keeping things exactly as they are at present. Stay tuned as this is most certainly a dynamic constantly changing story.
Yes, it is certainly true that the status of legal online gambling and online casino action is still literally all over the map so to speak. Yet, that being said, if you take a look at what is really going on with respect to legal online gambling you will clearly see the positive trend that has quite a number of online gambling industry excited about the future.
Start with a clear understanding of rather recent developments. Are you aware that no less than seven states throughout the U.S. enacted legislation in 2016 enabling their residents to participate in legal regulated Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS).
Recall that prior to 2016, even mentioning legal online gambling sites or daily fantasy sports was widely seen as a waste of time and hardly worth the effort. But oh what a difference a year can make.
Take a look at the lists of states that currently have legislation on the books allowing legal regulated daily fantasy sports betting action. These states include: Colorado, Indiana, Virginia, New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, Tennessee, Missouri, Kansas and most recently the state of Mississippi.
Interestingly, the next state where the legalization of online gambling in the form of daily fantasy sports is expected to be hotly debated is none other than Texas. As of this writing it is not clear the direction the Texas debate is expected to take. Just suffice it to say that Texas law currently has no legislation in the books specifically blocking daily fantasy sports.
Meanwhile you must have noticed that the hard to miss flip flop on the topic of daily fantasy sports betting by the major sports league franchises. As you might well remember, not so long ago the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB were staunchly opposed to anything to do with daily fantasy sports.
Now these same major sports league franchises have reversed their positions. Perhaps you already know that each and every one of these major sports league franchises have established working relationships with the sports betting services FanDuel and DraftKings.
So what does all of this mean? Get this: the undeniable fact is that real money online daily fantasy sports betting laws are being relaxed all over the country. The natural consequence of these actions will most likely be increased legal online gambling of all types.
In the very near future, you may well see other states embrace the New Jersey model of legalizing all online gambling action.
In this case, the presidential decision to pay attention to is that of the widely publicized situation with the former head of the FBI, James Comey. More to the point, the situation that ended with the outright dismissal or “firing” to be blunt of Comey is seen by quite a number of online gambling proponents as a good omen.
That is to say, as of this writing the consensus from a number of observers is that with the let go of Comey, the odds are that a newly appointed director of the FBI won’t see online gambling as an area in which to focus.
Recall that in the early days of the new administration, online casino operators were in effect holding their breath so to speak. After all, there was the rather sizable donation for the inauguration from none other than Sheldon Adelson. As you know, Adelson, the billionaire chairman and CEO of the Las Vegas Sands Corp. has been working for years to thwart any efforts to expand legal online casino action.
Then there was the appointment of the new Attorney General Jeff Sessions. You may well remember that Sessions referenced the 2011 decision by the Department of Justice regarding the legal interpretation of the Wire Act.
Yet all of the above being said, to date there has been little interest expressed by anyone in the new administration in even discussing legal online casino action. Now that James Comey is out as the Director of the FBI, the obvious question is whether or not the new head of the FBI will establish online casino as a priority for the FBI.
Truth be told, the efforts to promote Sheldon Adelson’s heavily funded Restoration of America’s Wire Act (RAWA) have not completely disappeared. In fact, the issue was raised by Senator Lindsey Graham during Sessions confirmation hearing.
Nevertheless, the outright dismissal is still being viewed by many online casino proponents as a positive sign. After all, a new FBI will inherit quite a lengthy To Do list. The focus on quelling or stopping the spread of online gambling sites is most likely at the bottom of any such list if it even makes the list.
In other words, all signs point to smooth sailing ahead for the online gambling industry.
Certainly you are well aware that the U.K. is on what looks to be a fast track for exiting the E.U. However, what you may not yet realize is that this move by the U.K. has triggered quite a bit of angst in the tiny British territory known as Gibraltar.
Recall that Gibraltar is located at the southern tip of Spain. As you probably know, Gibraltar is now home to some well known online gambling site operators. For quite some time, Gibraltar has been attracting these online casino operators due to its low tax base as well as the close proximity to the European Union.
Keep in mind, that the EU market is upwards of some 500 million people. Furthermore, the hard to overlook reality today is that supporting these online gambling site operators accounts for a significantly high 25 percent of the local Gibraltar economy. Furthermore, that translates into some 3,000 jobs.
The looming question that has yet to be answered with the Brexit negotiations is what this will mean for Gibraltar. As in, will the exit of the U.K. from the EU mean an automatic exit from the EU for Gibraltar? And if so, will the online casino operators based in Gibraltar suddenly lose access to the EU online gambling market as a result?
As of this writing, none of these online casino operators have indicated they intend to exit Gibraltar. At the same time, this uncertainty is naturally increasing the appeal of other sites that support online gambling operators such as Malta.
To get a sense of the viewpoint from the online casino operators, it is insightful to look at comments from senior executives at 888, one of the largest online gambling site operators. These executives pointed out to a worst case scenario in which the online casino operators could suddenly become ineligible for online gambling site regulatory licenses in some EU countries.
Other online casino operators such as William Hill and Ladbrokes will only report that they are monitoring the negotiations closely. It turns out that the fate of Gibraltar could in fact be up to Spain. In other words, will Spain choose to hinder cross border dealings once the U.K. has fully exited the EU or not?
You can understand that there is a lot at stake for a number of interested parties with the Brexit negotiations. Will this simply drive online casino operators to other locations? Or will the negotiations with the EU come to more favorable terms for both sides? All this, when the interest in online casinos is increasing all over the world.
